Stocks and Forex Trading Strategy with Moving Averages
Trading strategy using two exponential averages
This trading technique combines the use of exponential moving averages, a stochastic and an RSI. Like most trading strategies of this type, it is simple to apply and will be described below. Indicators used
Daily chart (1 day)
Exponential moving average of 5 periods applied to the close.
Exponential moving average of 10 periods applied to the close.
Stochastic of 10,3,3.
RSI of 14.
Strategy Rules
Buy: When the 5-period EMA crosses the 10-period EMA to the upside, buy if the RSI is above 50 and both Stochastic lines are pointing up. Extreme caution should be exercised if the stochastic lines are in the oversold area.
Sell: When the 5-period EMA crosses the 10-period EMA to the downside, you proceed to enter the market by selling if the RSI is below 50 and the two stochastic lines are pointing down. Extreme caution should be exercised if the stochastic lines are in the overbought area.
Exit the market: The rule says that if the 5 EMA crosses the 10 EMA in the opposite direction from which we entered the market, or if the RSI changes direction and crosses the 50 level in the opposite direction from which we entered the market, the best thing to do is get out of position
Regarding the exit, it should be noted that sometimes the exit signal can be too slow if we wait for the 5 EMA to cross over the 10 EMA which can cause us to end up losing much of our profits. On the contrary, the crossing of the RSI above the 50 level can make us get out of the position very quickly since it is not uncommon for a cross of this type to occur and in a short time the RSI moves again in the direction in which we entered the market. The best, in my opinion, is to place the stop loss and take profit at easily recognizable resistance and support levels, especially the latter.
